What's new in Tignes for this season 2023/24?

Updated: Jan 8

Accommodation

This season we will be working the Alpapart Residences which offer high quality accommodation together with the services and security of a hotel reception. They include Almes 1 and 2, and Yeti located near Village Montana in Les Almes, Denali and Cap Neige located in the heart of Le Lac, and Suites du Val Claret situated close to the Grande Motte funicular in Val Claret. Almes 2 has large fully equipped apartments with private saunas and covered parking. Almes 1 next door offers lovely views over the lake and like Almes 2 has covered parking and a laundry area. Yeti offers an 18msq jacuzzi, hamman and sauna area, and both Cap Neige and Denali have a pool, sauna and steam room. Please enquire for rates and availability.

We will also be working with luxury chalet Karibou this season which offers accommodation for 12 people with one of the largest private terraces in Tignes overlooking the lake. Features include a hot tub, indoor cinema and sauna, heated boot rack and a modern fully equipped kitchen. The open plan lounge includes a fireplace and a large dining table overlooking the lake. In the mountains

This season lift passes are free for children under 8, and there are reduced rates for 8-18 year olds. A new high speed 6-seater chair lift called the Aiguille Rouge has been installed on the Plateau du Marais. It replaces the old chair lift that connects with the bubble up from Les Boisses, and will whisk skiers and boarders up to a viewing platform on the summit which is at 2415m. There are ski pass scanners for your lift passes at chair lifts, funiculars, gondolas etc.

The Palafou high speed toboggan ride that runs from the top of Palafour after the slopes have closed to skier and boarders has been renamed Expedition Cobra.

Evolution 2 is offering the Wild Nest experience where you can spend the night in a dome under the stars. A night-time snow-shoeing excursion, breakfast and a three course Savoyard dinner with wine are included. In addition are the Birthday afternoons for 4- 12 year olds. These include a snowshoe treasure hunt for younger children and a trapper challenge for older children, both ending with a reward of toasted marshmallows.

In resort

Looking at restaurants, Chez Juliane has replaced Bagus cafe in Tignes Le Lac. The owners of Escale Blanche have opened a new fine dining Italian restaurant in Le Lac called Julietta 23. It offers a four course Discover Italy menu as well as pizzas and a children's menu, and has great views of the lake. La Caleche restaurant has been replaced by Les Planches in Le Lac and offers wok dishes, fish and chips as well as fondues. Cocorico in Val Claret is no longer offering food at lunch time but opens mid afternoon for drinks and apres-ski. On the subject of apres-ski, the Terrachu Bar in Le Lac has been taken over by new owners and offers cosy seating overlooking the lake with some of the cheapest drinks prices in Le Lac!

Several new shops have opened up in Le Lac including a Beauty Shop and an art shop which offers hand made artisan products and paintings. The cheese shop, Fromagerie du Lac, has moved to smaller premises on Promenade de Toviere and in its place on Rue de la Poste is a large gift shop with a range of products from food, to candles and hoodies.

A private company called Indigeo has taken over the parking in Tignes. If you require parking, you can book a space in one of the car parks in Lavachet, Le Lac or Val Claret. This can be done directly online by visiting https://www.indigoneo.fr/fr Please note that parking in Brevieres is no longer free of charge.
